HUZZAH!

I’m so excited! I decided to enter part of my Vivien Leigh collection in the OC Fair collections competition this summer. I chose 10 of my best items, and last night I went to the fair to discover that I had won a blue ribbon!! Isn’t that neat?

I’m not sure how many other entries there were in my category (I entered it for “famous people”), but I was just so excited I won! There was an older lady looking at it when I went to see the results and she said, “How wonderful that you collect that stuff, not many people do. She was very beautiful.” I said, “Thank you, yes, she’s my favorite.” :D Hooray for Vivien Leigh!

See that little white card next to me? It says “1st Place!” I think I get a ribbon after the fair is over. How fun!

  12. I am a great fan of both Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh sadly both no longer with us, he was a wonderful classical actor I really admired his Shakespeare films of Henry v, Hamlet, Richard 111. He to my mind had it all talent, good looks, and he could really act. Vivien Leigh was a much better actor than she was ever given credit for, who could forget her performance as Blanche in a Streetcar named desire, she really made the part her own I think. They were called the darlings of the gods, and the theatre royals, but sadly the public image did not fit the private one. Their relationship was very stormy due to her terrible illness manic depression. I am sure they still loved each other after their divorice but her illness tore them apart. Olivier went on to marry again the talented actor Joan Plowright and find happiness again, but Vivien never married again although she did have a partner Jack Merrivale who had a calming effect on her so
